No SGB operates alone.  Entrepreneurs are embedded within an entrepreneurial ecosystem that provides them with access to talent, mentorship, skills, finance, and markets that they need to grow their businesses.

Institutions that support SGBs have begun to recognize that they can have more impact by taking an ecosystem approach. When multiple actors coordinate investment they support an entire network of entrepreneurs within a city or region. As these entrepreneurs scale up their operations, they in turn provide mentorship and financing for future entrepreneurs. This virtuous cycle is one that can create jobs and drive prosperity at scale.
